Have you ever wanted to be in a place where it's warm and sunny all year round, in a place which is full of different beaches and beautiful nature? Then go to Lanzarote!

Lanzarote is one of the seven main Canary Islands, located on the Atlantic Ocean, about 100 kilometres west of Morocco. As all the Canary Islands have volcanic origins, until nowadays you can see many volcanoes (most of them are not active), all the landscape is full of hills and mountains, or actually in history most of these montains were just volcanoes. Whenever you go, you can find sea and beaches.

Lanzarote is the third most populous Canary Island and it's capital is Arrecife. Even if there are many different things to see and to do, the dimensions of this island are not very big. It will be just about 60 kilometres to arrive from the northern coast to the south.

But now lets go to the topic, you want to know where to go and what to see in Lanzarote? At first I recommend you to rent a car, usually the prices start from 30 euros per day (and book the car online, a few days before, it'll be almost impossible to find a car just in your arrival for the same day).

If you have just a few days to see the island, go to: (SEE THE PICTURES BELOW)
- Timanfaya National Park, a big colorful area full of volcanoes. There's only one active volcano left, called Timanfaya, and that's how they named the whole park in that way. But the main thing to see there is just the beauty of the nature, the volcanic soil with it's magnificent shapes and shades. They're offering bus tours inside the park, that's the main way how people visit this place. Otherwise you can also take a camel ride, you will find the park full of guided camels, or a guided tour on foot, but the whole place is definitely too big to see everything on foot, and you need to book it in advance, starting from Mancha Blanca.
- Cueva de los Verdes, underground caves, which were created by the volcanic lava. In history it was also a refuge for Lanzarote's people to escape from the pirates who devastated the whole island. Inside the cave they have also a concert hall where they have concerts every week.
- Mirador del Río, a perfect viewpoint on a 475-metre-high (1,560 ft) mountain. You can have a beautiful view over La Graciosa island.
- Playa Blanca, a small town on the southern coast of Lanzarote. As the name says 'playa' means 'beach' in Spanish, so that's the place for nice beaches. You can find different beaches just in the town, right next to the center. Or if you have more time you can go to Playas Papagayo, long sandy beaches full of natural beauty. To go there you can hike, walking always close to the coast or otherwise you need to have a car.

It could be even better if you have at least a week to spend on this island, in that case go also to:
- Arrecife, the capital of Lanzarote. Arrecife is another city with a beach in the center. It's very nice to walk close to the beach, in the alley of palm trees. For a drink in the evening I recommend El Charco de San Ginés, nice local bars close to the small boats port.
- Puerto del Carmen, a small nice town with many beaches, lots of palm trees and full of restaurants, bars and shops.
- Playa Papagayo (and the beaches around), long beaches with white sand and nice waves. All the southern coastline is full of beaches, and they're all different. My personal favourite is Playa Mujeres, it's the first one you'll meet if coming on foot from the center of Playa Blanca. Some of these beaches are also known for nudism. Playa Papagayo (the main and the most famous) is very touristy and always full of people. I think it's worth to see the place from the top of the mountain and for swimming go to other beaches just next to the main one.
- Salinas de Janubio, colorful salt pans
- Los Hervideros, beautiful cliffs and underwater caves, almost always with high waves.
- Charco de los Clicos, a salted lake with green water, very interesting to see.
- Jameos del Agua, an underground tunnel, created by the volcanic lava. Inside the tunnel you can find a lake with crystal clear water, where are living also different species, the most famous and rare are the white crabs.
- Famara beach, as this place is always very windy and full of big waves, it's the paradise for surfers.
- Caleton Blanco beach, crystal clear light blue water with white sand and black rocks contrasting everything. It's definitely a place to see. Very particular.
- Teguise, this little town is most famous for it's market every Sunday. The town is tiny but perfect for a nice walk to see more local life and people.

Lanzarote is a perfect place for nature lovers and as it's often windy, definitely go there for wind sports, you can even learn a new sport. Most of the towns are very touristic, full of English and Irish people. Whenever you go to Lanzarote, it's always warm and it rains rarely. You can find loads of bars and restaurants almost everywhere, which means it's an amazing island for a relaxing vacation.
